An interactive installation in the basement of the former U.S. Embassy in The Hague.

The work invites viewers to experience the dualistic nature of U.S. foreign influence, at once a global superpower in entertainment and detainment, pleasure and pain.

It takes as departure point the story of the first ever prototype for a massage chair, which was crafted from the rubble of post-WW2 Osaka by Nobuo Fujimoto following massive US firebombings.

The massage chair contained a playlist of 12 songs all titled ‘Seeing Stars’, songs from all over the world dealing with love, abuse, fame, all produced in the U.S.
