An interactive installation in the basement of the former U.S. Embassy in The Hague.
The work invites viewers to experience the dualistic nature of U.S. foreign influence, a global superpower in entertainment and detainment simultaneously. Pleasure and pain. It takes as departure point the story of the first ever massage chair prototype, crafted by Nobuo Fujimoto from parts found in the rubble of Osaka, following devestating U.S. firebombings during WWII.
The massage chair contained a playlist of 12 songs, all titled ‘Seeing Stars.’ Dealing with issues of love, abuse, fame; the musicians are from many corners of the world, but all were produced in the U.S.
