A video work exploring a strange phenomenon on the Finnish military island of Orö.

Two hundred years of military munitions testing created the perfect environment for butterflies to flourish, leading 1,800 of the 2,600 species of butterfly in Finland to live amongst the island’s craters and shooting ranges, many previously thought extinct. Illuminating counter-intuitive causal links between humanity and nature, destruction and creation.

Named after the silver-winged Parnassius apollo, the largest butterfly on the island, and the God of both archery and healing.
